Here is my client @lizzybowerss training with me this morning at the studio. She has been away on a retreat in India for 2.5 weeks and really does look a picture of health. Her skin is glowing and she honestly looks a few years younger. She has fully embraced the @yogivilleindia way and was participating in daily yoga, meditation, treks and hikes. She was eating vegetarian and sattvic meals throughout the retreat, whilst also expelling toxins from the body, through different methods. Those that have done stuff like this will know what I mean. Our Mum has recently been diagnosed with Dementia and it has shocked and saddened us all. She is 78. Problems started in childhood and she has suffered with her mental health throughout her adult life. Now this has come along and made matters a lot worse. I just wanted to put this post up to help bring attention to this cruel and debilitating disease. Dementia is a syndrome in which there is deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected from the usual consequences of biological ageing. Although dementia mainly affects older people, it is not an inevitable consequence of ageing. Currently more than 55 million people live with dementia worldwide, and there are nearly 10 million new cases every year. Dementia results from a variety of diseases and injuries that primarily or secondarily affect the brain. Alzheimer's disease is the most common form of dementia and may contribute to 60-70% of cases.
